I really enjoyed visiting Homer with Mom and Natalie on Wednesday! Lots of fun memories to add to our collection. Homer is a fun town to tour... and extra special because Dad was born there! Tomorrow is the first day off from fishing, so we're planning to visit Homer as a family and celebrate Mom's birthday~

Fish, Fish, Fish, and more Fish
We've been fishing for a week straight now. When we do get the chance to sleep for an hour or two, I close my eyes and all I see is FISH. But that's a good thing, right? We're back on the boat bright and early tomorrow! Goodnight!
Baby's 1st Birthday on the Augustine
On the Boat
Yesterday was the fist time fishing on the Augustine for me and Annie this season! Mom and Natalie stayed behind, holding down the fort and doing some shopping in town. (Good thing, because it would have been too rough out there for Baby.)
Gabe kept me impressed with his capabilities! I tell ya, this guy could run a fishing vessel of his own! He worked hard, and then some, 24 hours, rain or shine. He's a keeper.
Ben was the side-kick and in-house Chef. He would whip up a delish dish when you least expected it. I thought I smelled fried chicken coming from a nearby boat, only to discover it was coming from below. It was Ben.
^ Our favorite Captain.
This was one of our last sets of the day. A beautiful site after rocking in the waves all day.
Back at the cannery- unloading the catch!

Got Fish
Yesterday, the Augustine left at 4:00am and returned at 7:00pm. Annie and I road the skiff out to the boat to see how things went. The guys said they did one set in 12 foot seas(waves). They worked so hard for that load! We didn't get to bed until 1:00am, and for them, that ended just about a 24 hour day of work. Today is Dad's birthday, and boy, do we plan on celebrating!

The Little Girl who Likes Red
Annie met Carl, (the dock manager here at the cannery) for the first time on Tuesday. The boys have known him for years, and he has always been fondly mentioned in their fishing stories. Before we arrived, Carl caught wind that Annie wanted a fishing hat like the boys, a RED fishing hat. Minutes after touchdown at the Kenai airport, Annie was given a gift from Carl... not just a hat, but the last red hat "for the little girl who loves red".

Re-United
We girls landed in AK yesterday! It's been so good to reunite with the guys. We've been making the most of it already, and ended our first day with huge Alaskan burgers at "Sal's". The mountains are beautiful and the North winds ICY. We spent this afternoon on the boat, getting ready for tomorrow's opener. The forecast looks rough, but we're praying that the weather will hold and the fish will hit.
"Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; they have seen the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep. For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; their soul melted away in their misery. They reeled and staggered like a drunken man, and were at their wits end. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, so He guided them to their desired haven. Let them extol His also in the congregation of the people, and praise Him at the seat of the elders."
